If anyone's heard about the organization "Free The Children" (created by a Canadian boy ;) ), then you might have heard the phrase "Me to We".
I'm watching the conferance on TV right now, and I caught the end of a speech by a boy from Africa. Last year, I got to see him speak in person. It was a very important day.
See I had begun to lose my faith in humans. I saw so many people give up and break over anything and everything. They had no hope, they didn't try.
But I heard this boy talk, about everything he'd been through. There are people who've been through half of the horror he had, destroying themselves with drugs, violence, whatever they could. And him, he could have gone either way...but, he chose the path to make things better, to help other people.
When his speech was over, I wanted to just go up and hug him. I should have gone up and hugged him. But I didn't.
In any case, "Me to We", means people need to stop just thinking about themselves and see we're all in this together. We need to help all we can, because we are the only ones who CAN. Don't get all apathetic and pessimistic and say "Well nothing will happen anyway, we can't change things"
That's the reason nothing gets changed. Because of attitudes like that.
We CAN make a difference.
Despite everyone telling us we can't, we can do so much more than you think.
